Fiber lasers are different
from the fiber coupled lasers. The fiber
laser is a variation of the standard diode pumped solid-state laser.
Laser light is emitted by a dopant, such as ytterbium
in the central core of the fiber.
fiber host used in fiber laser is usually silica glass with a rare
earth dopant, such as ytterbium and erbium, in the core. The
Ytterbium dopant fiber lasers have center wavelengths from 1030nm to
1100 nm. The Erbium dopant fiber lasers emit from 1530nm to 1620 nm.
